Plan your pregnancy!
It's vital that pregnancy is consciously planned. A lot of dental problems should be prevented before conception of your baby. And it's better to prepare for pregnancy in advance.
The thing is, by visiting a dentist you take care of your baby's health as well as of your own. If you can save yourself from dental manipulations and taking anesthetics during pregnancy, it's better to do so!
What if hormonal changes in your body cause ache in the tooth you've been advised to have extracted quite a long time ago? Don't forget: all health problems, not taken care of before pregnancy will definitely show up when you least need them!
It won't necessarily happen to every woman, but oral cavity hygiene will surely require more time and efforts from everyone!
Take care of your teeth in advance, and you will have much better chances of making your pregnancy a wonderful time of your life, instead of spoiling it with toothache. Cure your teeth as well as future father's! It's common knowledge that bacteria can be transported to your partner's mucous membranes even by a kiss, so if one partner has a bad tooth, the other partner's teeth are in a serious hazard. Which means that future mother can soon develop cavities or periodontitis.
Some pieces of adviñe on dental treatment before pregnancy:
· Both mother and father should cure as many teeth as possible (remember about infection transfer to partner's mucous membrane!)
· Professional oral cavity hygiene is the easiest and the most effective way of prevention! No matter how thoroughly you brush your teeth at home, dental plague remains in hard-to reach places, as well as dental deposit, which favors bacteria reproduction, causing cavities and inflammations.
· Removal of dental deposits enables the dentist to find cavities on early stages. Treatment of cavities is much easier than pulpitis or periodontitis.
· It is recommended to replace old fillings, especially amalgam fillings. Because of lack of calcium during pregnancy you may develop cavities under the fillings.
· Pay special attention to condition of your gums. If there is aptitude for inflammation, bleeding, gums tenderness, or your teeth roots are bared - your oral cavity needs more care.
· Before pregnancy it is necessary to take out teeth and teeth roots that can not be restored! Modern dentistry offers a lot of possibilities to eliminate pain during teeth extraction (a big choice of anesthetics, excellent equipment and doctor's proficiency).
